  • Resumen del Proyecto

    Bolivia is developing a national policy focused on the industrialization of hydrocarbons, especially on Natural gas to added-value products (ammonia - urea, plastics, alcohol, liquid gas, etc.); and Evaporatesminerals resources specifically lithium to produce of energy storage systems (Lithium batteries). On the other hand, aims to achieve universal electrification by 2025, therefore it is necessary to electrify 600,000 households, where 85% of these are located in rural areas, were necessary to develop systems of renewable energy (photovoltaic and others) that require energy storage systems (lithium ion batteries).

    In this framework, the UMSA beginning in 2008 the Energy and Hydrocarbons Program with the project “Energy and Sustainable Development” funded by SIDA/UMSA cooperation program. The program intends: "To generate knowledge, specialized human resources, research and analytical laboratories, and transfers results, as tools that contribute to the development of Policies, Programs, and Projects in the field of renewable energy and hydrocarbons industrialization.   • Objetivo General

    • “To generate scientific and technological knowledge, to specialize human resources, to update laboratories equipped for research and service, and to create a network for transfer of research and innovation results, those as means for a contribution on the generation of policies, programs and national or international projects in the areas of Renewable Energy and Hydrocarbons (Catalysis, Petroleum and Petrochemistry)”

  • Objetivos Especificos

    • Specific objective 1: To increase scientific and technological knowledge fundamental and practical in the areas of Renewable Energies and Catalysis, Petroleum and Petrochemistry, through scientific and technological research and innovation on energy storage, process and uses of renewable energies, as well as on upstream and downstream hydrocarbon processing

    • Specific objective 2: To establish specialized human resources on the areas of Renewable Energies and Catalysis, Petroleum and Petrochemistry through a subprogram of human training during the period of the “Energy and Hydrocarbon” program

    • Specific objective 3: To increase Research Facilities, Equipment and Services capacities on Renewable Energies and Catalysis, Petroleum and Petrochemistry in order to support and improve the generation and application of knowledge, as well as the training at post-grade level at UMSA until 2022.

    • Specific objective 4: To increase the use of research results and the process transfer by the consortium members in a Network of Renewable Energy and Catalysis, Petroleum and Petrochemistry in order to cooperate to national programs and projects in these areas.
